In 2009 Social media was taking off but brands and organisations were reluctant to share their content and data with third party applications. The Red Bull Racing F1 team wanted to utilise social media but did not know how to do it in a safe and controlled way.
We used the M.Social (now Red Shift Social) platform and built a custom social network for the Red Bull Racing F1 team. It enabled them to create a fully interactive fan zone with forums, photo sharing, groups and friends but maintain full control of the content and data that was put through the platform.
The Red Bull Racing F1 Fan zone attracted 45,000+ members and was Red Bull Racing’s first step into social media. It was an active community attracting fans from around the world. Following the success of the F1 fan zone, we started to work with Red Bull UK and created their first email communications tool.
